With more than a decade of pharmaceutical sales experience, Aaron Koniak currently works for Specialty Healthcare Recruiting. Previously, he served as regional account manager for SynergEyes, Inc. Aaron Koniak supports groups in his community, such as the Simon Wiesenthal Center Society.
The Simon Wiesenthal Center recently linked to an article written by its associate dean in Los Angeles, Rabbi Abraham Cooper, who addressed Japanese citizens' ability to view Angelina Jolie's new film, Unbroken. Universal Pictures released the movie on Christmas Day 2014, across the world, with one exception: Japan.
Unbroken tells the story of Louis Zamperini, an Olympic runner with inspiring determination who survived the suffering inflicted upon him in a Japanese POW camp during World War II and eventually learned to forgive his persecutors.
Rabbi Cooper argues that the Japanese people should face their past honestly and that this process has already begun. In 2009, Ichiro Fujisaki, the ambassador for Japan, gave an official apology to former American POWS. The following year, a POW invitation program allowed former POWs to visit Japan and come to peace with their experience. Viewing Unbroken would merely continue this process.
